Hi Centreon community,

Since the acquisition of VMware and the rise in licensing costs, the use of Proxmox has increased dramatically.
Unfortunately, the Proxmox monitoring plugin currently falls short of VMware’s.

The first major shortcoming is the lack of monitoring for the quorum system: Corosync. And note that it is possible to install a standalone Corosync instance on a Debian system, for example, rather than on a Proxmox node within the cluster, so that it can be hosted at a remote site.

The second major difference is the lack of VM monitoring from Proxmox hosts. Only the hosts’ resources are monitored.

And the third shortcoming is the autodiscover system, which works perfectly on VMware and is a real advantage.

Regards,

Phil

Hi @Phil242 @Genin David @Farzana-HUBONE @Marc GUEPY @Olivier80 @Roterdan_macedo @hlds,

What information (status, metrics...) of Corosync would you like to monitor?

Bonjour @omercier

Si on peut déjà avoir le status d’un cluster Proxmox c’est un bon début.

On serait aussi intéressé par le status global/la santé de Ceph.

Hi @Marc GUEPY,

As Corosync is an independent software component, we do not wish to add a monitoring service template to the Proxmox connector, but rather a dedicated Corosync connector, that could be combined with the Proxmox connector.

In that perspective, we would like to list the Corosync metrics that seem particularly relevant to you regarding Proxmox clusters and see what we can do.
