Disable auto-refresh by default

Hi ​@Stéphane, the goal of real times pages is to display “fresh data”.

You can click on “Disable autorefresh” icon to stop the refresh. It is not enough?

One of our users complained that it was annoying while writing a new query, because it can load a query that isn’t finished writing yet. He’s the only one for now but many users still use the legacy pages.

It has to be done for every new session. Also, the refresh takes place even when the tab is not shown. It results in many useless requests.

Hi ​@Stéphane, there are requests for real-time pages and those for the banner (top counter).

In fact, only those for real time (Resource Status) can be stopped, not those for the top counter.

Editing a CQL query in the search bar on the Resource status page.

 

While editing, if the refresh takes place it issues the query with what is currently in the bar. Thus making a useless query.

Also, another subject but it is related still: why are the terms reordered automatically? Is it an accepted good practice doing that? I haven’t seen this behaviour in any other tool.

​@Stéphane so in a summary, is your idea that auto-refresh gets automatically disabled whilst the user is typing a search or selecting filters?

My idea was it is disabled by default, and enabled only if user choose to. And the setting to be remembered. But yes, if this is too complicated for you, that would be the least, and also when tab is not active..

OK thanks. When the tab is inactive, the only refreshed zone is at the top with the “top counter”.

In just twelves minutes. Near 270 HTTP requests. Browser minimized. I wasn’t even in front of my PC during this capture. Yes it is for my one and only IP address. This is insane.

Hi,

We were using 23.10.23 as the “23.10” tag on the post suggests. 

Now upgraded in 24.10.7 I can see those requests aren’t done anymore. This is good news.

Let’s hope the 24.10 version will be the version where things are fixed and no new bugs are introduced. I’ve seen in the release notes that tons of grave bugs have been fixed in the seven 24.10.X versions. Thx for this!
