Undefined Downtimes

Hi @kozfelipe, Can you give me a use case where it would be interesting to define an indefinite downtime? Wouldn't it be more interesting to deactivate the monitoring of the resource?

In our environment, we use availability time to determine payment discounts and criticality to prioritize maintenance tickets. When a client is deactivated, we disable their traffic service rather than delete their information to preserve historical data. For clients requiring a maintenance window, we utilize downtime, which often does not have a scheduled end date. Here are some examples:

• Change of physical address or renovation of the establishment with no expected completion date.
• Equipment awaiting spare parts or completion of the RMA process without a forecasted timeline.
• The need to disable ticket generation for station equipment undergoing indefinite maintenance.

In short, we use the disabled status for assets that are unlikely to return just to maintain history. This is a native feature in platforms like Zabbix

With Centreon you can create downtime for 12 months maximum. This is not enough?

yes, this is exactly what we are using. we have more than 40 downtimes with a year window to workaround an unknown ending date
