Hello,

What are the best practices for warning critical values, etc.?

Given that, for example, 80% of a 100GB disk is more alarming than 80% of a 1TB disk, how can these values be classified and adjusted?

Thank you in advance for your answers/ideas.

Hello,

After a certain size we change from threshold in % to threshold in Go/To/…

But we have no fixed rules, and it depends a lot for what your storage is using for.

Based on what i looked online quickly, there is no such thing as a standard for alerts threasholds, you need to look around with your admins to determine when you want to be alerted. It all depends on how much time you need to possibly resolve the issue or expand if necessary.

My personal opinion is that proportion based covers most of use cases and having a warn at 75% and critical at 90% is a good balance. This gives you an early warning to manage the issue and raises a critical before being unmanagable.

Hope this helps you define your own standards
