Hello,

Could you plan the package of NRPE 4.0.3 ?

Actually the 4.0.2 who is built and packaged by Centreon have a bug with the nasty_metachars parameter https://github.com/NagiosEnterprises/nrpe

See the ChangeLog

https://github.com/NagiosEnterprises/nrpe/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md

Extract :

NRPE Changelog

4.0.3 - 2020-04-28

FIXES

  • Fixed nasty_metachars not being read from config file (#235) (Sebastian Wolf)

4.0.2 - 2020-03-11

FIXES

  • Fixed buffer length calculations/writing past memory boundaries on some systems (#227, #228) (Andreas Baumann, hariwe, Sebastian Wolf)
  • Fixed use of uninitialized variable when validating requests (#229) (hariwe, Sebastian Wolf)

About the deprecation of NRPE by Nagios and maybe the NSClient++ because the last release is April 2018, what is the roadmap ? using the NCPA agent ?

Regards,

Hello

We are aware of this issue and we plan to package the NRPE v4.0.3 release.
But I can’t give you a date.

Currently, we are still using NRPE and NSClient++.
Even if the last release was in 2018, the software is working fine and answer the current needs.

Hello,

Thank you for your quick reply :)

I’m waiting the package with the release of NRPE 4.0.3

Yes NRPE ans NSClient++ do the job, i see the License of NCPA and it seems be closed to Nagios only.

Hello @gespada

I can send you a RPM if it can’t wait few more days.

We had a little issue during the publication these packages on stable repositories, but we’ve successfully built and tested it.

Kind regards,

Hello @sims24

Yes, if it possible, i want the package 😃

It’s could be great, because for this moment i just found the workaround to install the lastest release of NRPE3 by rpm or yum command of this package centreon-nrpe3-plugin-3.2.1-9.el7.centos.x86_64.rpm

that i do update after the publication of the packaging 4.0.3
