The beta covers only centreon-plugin-rust-snmp and its SNMP collections. It lasts about 6 months from September 30, 2026. It is not intended for business-critical production.

Disclaimer

The versions distributed during this program are beta versions. We do not recommend using them to monitor business-critical production devices. The JSON file format (see the format attribute) may still change in ways that break existing collections. If that happens, it will be announced in the changelog.

Scope

Item Covered by the beta
Plugin centreon-plugin-rust-snmp
Collections Generic SNMP (Rust), Linux SNMP (Rust) and Windows SNMP (Rust) connectors, all experimental
Protocol SNMP v2c only. SNMP v3 is out of scope (planned for GA; check the changelog in case it becomes available during the beta)
Distributions RHEL and derivatives 8, 9 and 10 (x86_64); Debian 12 and 13

Duration

  • Opening: September 30, 2026.
  • Duration: about 6 months.
  • Beta exit (GA): from March 2027, depending on observed maturity. The criteria are: no open blocking bug, performance validated against Perl on real-world cases, complete documentation and passing non-regression tests.

Centreon's commitments

  • Provide the packages and the JSON format documentation.
  • Read every piece of feedback, qualify it and let the tester know whether it will be addressed.
  • Publish interim fixes during the beta when needed.
  • Announce every new version in the beta group, clearly flagging any changes that break existing collections (breaking changes).

Beta testers' commitments

  • Install the experimental connectors on a test or non-critical environment.
  • Report bugs and discrepancies with the requested information (command, output, equivalent Perl output, distribution).
  • Answer follow-up questions from the Centreon team whenever possible.
  • Not share any sensitive data about their infrastructure (SNMP communities, public IP addresses) in group discussions.

Confidentiality

  • The plugin code and the collections are open source (Apache-2.0 license) and publicly available on GitHub. You are free to talk about them.
  • Roadmap information shared in the group (dates, upcoming features) is indicative and subject to change. Please do not share it publicly.

Support

The beta program does not come with any commitment from Centreon Support, nor any response-time guarantee (SLA). All exchanges take place in the beta group on The Watch.
