Hi,

How do you quote text to answer it in The Watch?

If I select the part of the text I want to be quoted, and then click on “quote” (ie: the double quote button right to the “image” button), it makes the whole text quoted. And if I write only the text I want to be quoted, make it a quotation using the “quote” button, then I can’t write normal text after.

How is it supposed to work?

Hi @Stéphane, The only way to quote just a part of a post is to click on the QUOTE button, the whole post is then selected, then you can modify (delete a part, put it in bold, italic, etc) this selection at your convenience before publishing your answer. Let me know if I can help you with anything else : )

You mean I answer in the same quote block?

Or I answer in another post?

This is a non-sens.

Oh shit, I get it… I must not use the “quote” button on top, BUT, the “quote” link at the bottom.

I still don’t get what the “quote” button is used for.

No, it’s to use the “quote” link that is placed at the bottom of a post.

But still. If I start a post, then select a part of the text, then click on the quote button, all the text is quoted. I’m pretty sure it should not work like that. It doesn’t work like that in all other websites I’m used to.

If I select a part of a text, then click on the “italic” button, only the selected part is made italic. It should be the same behaviour with the “quote” button. It works like that in all other websites I know, in all major websites.

So I still think the current behaviour is buggy.

@Stéphane The quote button allows you to quickly select the post you want to quote, without having to copy and paste. And once you've made that selection, you can make whatever changes you want.

This is a non-sens.

In a thread with several publications, you can even quote several and add your comments next to them.

It's very useful : )

No, it clearly doesn’t work like that.

See, this is my post so far:

If I click on the “quote” button this is what I get (yet another behaviour!):

Here it didn’t quote all my message but openned a quote block. If I click again on the quote button (what I did to write this), what has been written in the quote block is not quoted anymore.

I won’t argue no more, I’ll try to remember to use the quote link instead, but once again : it doesn’t work like in any major (or even minor) website, and imho that just sucks.
