About Linux SNMP version 3

Dear Watchers,It had been asked for a while, we released it last December: a SNMP version 3 template is provided for Linux in our Monitoring Connectors. The documentation can be found there.I invite you to tell us here as a reply to this post, if you have feedback to give us about it.Does it fit your needs? Is it easy enough to use? Is the documentation clear?Any feedback will be great!Once we judge that the template is satisfying enough given your feedback, we’ll merge it into the Linux SNMP monitoring connector and apply the same method with other connectors.

Legacy MAP Retirement [Updated 09/30/24]

[Update 09/30/24] This update confirms that MAP Legacy will be retired with 24.10 This is an announcement that Centreon will retire Centreon MAP Legacy starting next version 24.10. The diagramming and mapping functionality referred to as Centreon MAP is currently shipped in two flavors:MAP Legacy which relies on a client application running on a desktop to create/edit maps MAP Web, a web client fully embedded into the Centreon user interfaceThe following only relates to Centreon on-premise installations as Centreon Cloud already runs MAP Web. Given the change in technology and the migration necessary to move from MAP Legacy to MAP Web, Centreon has been continuing full support of MAP Legacy until now.With hundreds of production platforms now running MAP Web, we believe it is time to consider deprecating MAP Legacy. Centreon will end support of MAP Legacy with the next major version of Centreon: 24.10.MAP Legacy will continue being shipped and supported on 23.04, 23.10 and 24.04 accordi

SNClient+ : short review

Hello,I tried SNclient+ and I will share what I found with this short review.My thirst thought is that SNClient+ is mainly for Windows host.s Why ? Because I failed to installed it from Debian 5 to Debian 11 included. The Debian packages are broken on all theses releases, you can’t install it, it will throw an error.The answer from the team was if it’s not working you can try to recompile it from sources.It more sunny on the RedHat side because the RPM is valid (and tested) on RedHat 7 and 9 (I didn't test it on RH8).Also, only a unit for Systemd is included, no Init script.On the Windows side, it’s unclear on which version we could run it.I successfully run it on Windows 2019 but the SNClient+ team don’t give a list of supported OS :https://github.com/ConSol-Monitoring/snclient/issues/48 I tried some check with «check_nrpe» as I’m used to with NSClient++.Some are identical, like theses :$ /usr/lib64/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H 10.128.10.7 -c check_drivesize -a Drive=C: ShowAll MinWar

Retirement of Office 365 connectors within Microsoft Teams

Hello everyone,Some of you have already seen the information and have already passed it on to us (thanks again for your vigilance and your feedback). Microsoft made this announcement at the beginning of July:Starting August 15th, 2024 we will be removing the Office 365 connectors feature from Microsoft Teams. What Monitoring Connectors need a SNMP version 3 template?

Dear Watchers,As I said here, we experimented a new SNMP version 3 template for Linux.We are planning to add similar SNMP version 3 templates to other monitoring connectors to make it easier to use SNMP v3 (I agree it's not ideal to use the $_SERVICEEXTRAOPTION$ macro for that) in more contexts.What I'm proposing you here is to answer to my post by giving:The name of the monitoring connector or the host template you'd like to see support SNMP v3 macros. The desired security levels (noAuthNoPriv, authNoPriv, authPriv).Then we'll prioritize the posts that will receive the highest number of "thumbs up" to deliver new templates in the monitoring connectors.Can’t wait for your suggestions!PS: If what you want is a template that do not exist yet as a monitoring connector, then please use the ideas section!PPS: Please post only one suggestion per post 🙏🏻

[UPDATED] Deprecated views will be retired [in an upcoming] major versionProduct updates

[UPDATE AS OF 02/12/2024]As we are progressing towards next major release and still receiving feedback for required features in Resource Status we have decided to take a step back and NOT retire deprecated views in the Spring 24 version.We are planning the Fall version and will prioritize those enhancements in order to be in a position to then retire those views.Stay tuned and continue sending your valuable feedback![END OF UPDATE] It had been announced a long time ago that the plan was to remove the legacy host and services views as those are now replaced with Resource Status. Important change on 21.10 package repository

As you probably already know, Centreon 21.10 is not a supported version anymore (more information here).As a consequence, the RPM package repository for this version has been archived: it moved from https://packages.centreon.com/rpm-standard/21.10 to https://archives.centreon.com/standard/21.10.If your platform is still running 21.10 and you need to update it, please update your YUM or DNF repository configuration to handle this change.

Vulnerabilities in Curl CVE-2023-38545 CVE-2023-38546

As you might have heard, 2 vulnerabilities were disclosed on Curl last week.These issues have been undisclosed as CVE-2023-38545 and CVE-2023-38546.These vulnerabilities might have impacts on specific use cases, with specific misconfiguration.Default installation and default use cases should not be impacted.However, we recommend that you update your local package (on pollers and centrals) up to versions 7.69.x or 8.4, depending on your installation.

Damned licence key!

Hi,I’ve been told licence key were now handled online and I would not have to ask for key anytime. What naive being I had have to beleive in this.In addition I’m quite sure licence was valid before I upgrade from 23.10.18 to 23.10.21.Can someone please look at what the funk could it be made to fix this issue? I can’t upgrade the plugin packs.The fingerprint of the regarded platform is 1c7055ac1152efd834c0f759079ec293c7bc413fef2ea7dc1f9d6b6207626003These licence key problematic is a funky plain in the grass!Cheers.

centreon_linux_snmp.pl dont show exact disk free space

Hello everyone, I recently viewed that the template check “OS-Linux-Disk-Global-SNMP-custom” has a problem and I don’t know how to resolve it. The server shows the free disk storage but differs from the centreon check and the server (df command). Issue with VCenter since last update

Hi,Since the last update (version 20.10.4), I’ve been experiencing issues with my VMware setup. The account field in /etc/centreon/centreon_vmware.json is empty, and when I try to resend the login from the Centreon UI in the "Additional Connector Configurations" section, I get the following error:[parameters.vcenters[0].username] The string is empty, but a non-empty string was expected.This issue occurs on all my vCenter hosts. Do you have a solution? When I recreate a vCenter, it works fine.

DSM : New extension can't be enabled

Hello,In DSMD, existing extensions are working well.But when i try to add some slots or when i try  to add a new pool, extension is disabled and i get an error when i try to enable.I can’t find anything on logs.Can you help me to make it working?Thanks.

Services Scan - Rights?

Hello all, I try to fond a way to discover services without giving Admin rights.When I want to scan services, I can only apply (click on save) when I have ADMIN rights.can you say me if a specific right is necessary to permit the save?My user has good ACLs (menus, resources,...). Button is there but when we click on it, nothing works…when I give Admin rights to user, it works... Thanks, Laurent

Wrong ZMQ port used?

Hello,I am currently on a traineeship for a validation of a admin title, with a distribued monitoring project.Central in a DMZ, securised by UTMPollers on each client side, securised by UTMSo the flux is like : CENTRAL <> UTM <> INTERNET <> UTM <> POLLER I’m currently in the pre-prod phase, and i’m having issue with connecting Central / Pollers with ZMQ.Obviously I dont have the creds of UTMs so the configuration isn’t made by me so I can’t verify as I wish… I know so far that there is a NAT / PAT configuration. I followed the following post to troubleshoot my problemI saw that ZMQ port (on central / poller side) dont have the same portCENTRAL #ss -tan | grep 5556 POLLER# ss -tan | grep :5556I digged more with netcat simulating server/client with 5556, CENTRAL normally send “aaaa” to POLLER; but it respond a weird thing “router-external” on CENTRAL and nothing showed on POLLER POLLER# listening on 5556CENTRAL# sender on 5556So I’m here to ask, is that a normal b

How to monitor reboot pending of Linux Server ?

Hi, I’m asking a question : There is a simple method to monitor reboot pending of a Linux Server ? Because there are a few methods that’s I read, but don’t know if it’s the right method to do it :Script “check file exist” NRPE4 ?? (I think there is a service to do that) Create a Systemd service and monitor the service (the worse method) For monitor if the Linux server need a reboot there is a way that I learn ; if the server is waiting for a reboot to applied updates, an empty file will be created at :/var/run/reboot-requiredSo we just need to verify if the file exist or not, no ? So that’s why I’m asking, it is the right way to do that or not ? Sorry for my bad english, i’m french.

Service blocked in passive mode

Hello,On 22.10.28Some of our probes remain stuck with active_checks_enabled=0, even though all configurations indicate that the service should be set to 1.For visualization on our poller, the services.cfg file contains:define service {    host_name                      toto.nomdedomaincache.fr    service_description            CPU    register                       1    active_checks_enabled          1    use                            VMWARE_ESX-CPU    _SERVICE_ID                    302823}  And on the Centreon side: The only ways to resolve this issue are:Simply transferring the host to another poller. Stopping centengine, removing the service from the retention.dat file, and then restarting (if there is only one poller).

Question NSclient++
