Hi there,

Hope you had a merry Christmas !

I was following the installation documentation, and I arrived to the step “Install a collector” > “From the packages”.

Knowing I only have the central server, it is a test so I keep it simple, my question is : Do I need to follow this step, or does it refer to a distributed infrastructure with multiple servers ?

It is written “to turn the server into a collector”, so if i do it, will it break my configuration, or is it a logical thing needed to good working of Centreon ?

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

Julius

Yes, for test purposes you can use your central server as a collector (aka poller)

Only for test purposes ?

Otherwise I have to have another server available ?

It all depends what you use your central poller for as this has an impact on the load. If it is for simple checks on a small number of hosts that is no problem. We recommend not going beyond 500 hosts on the central poller. Otherwise, you should check the system requirements.

Okay, I am far from supervising 500 hosts.

Nevertheless, the system seems to not agree with turning Central server into a poller :

what do you see when clicking Configure Pollers? You should see your Central poller in there.

Yes I do

Then you should be all good to start using it for monitoring

Okay, thank you very much, this step comes after the Web Installation step, I thought I had to do it but no

Have a nice weekend !
