I'm having a problem with my centreon server (DB12). When I add my server to my local domain (i change hostname+hosts file), I lose supervision of the "virt-vmware-vm-custom" model but I can do name resolution of my servers on the esx. Whereas when I exclude it from the domain (including just hostname: srv-centreon) I manage to do my reporting without problems but it is impossible to resolve the server names... do you have any idea?

Hello

I don’t really understand what you did

you centreon poller (or central+poller if you only have one) should either use ip addresses or name resolution with your dns server, to resolve the hosts you want to monitor

centreon is using the dns resolution of the linux system it’s running on, so if you don’t setup your linux correctly the monitoring will not work

please be more clear in your problem description

to be precise, if you can “ping yourhost.your.domain” or just “ping yourhost” you need to use whatever is working in the “centreon_vmware.pm” config file, if you cannot ping either name, then you must keep using the ip address in that config file

if you want to be able to resolve the short name without the full domain, you need to configure your dns servers and the “search domain” so linux know where to ask for the dns resolution
