With the announced end of support for CentOS 7 (planned for June 30th, 2024), we have seen a growing number of compatibility issues with this operating system. This has forced Centreon to implement workarounds or to rely on non-official component distribution.

Centreon wants to provide the best support, experience and security. To ensure everyone anticipates the end of CentOS 7, and that we focus our efforts on modern operating systems, we will take a step forward in stopping CentOS 7 support in the 2023 Spring release (planned around April 2023). This will also end support for equivalent distributions: Redhat 7 and Oracle Linux 7.

Prior versions that do currently support CentOS 7 will remain fully supported through their entire lifetime (please check details in the lifecycle policy) and until the CentOS 7 end of support.

Feel free to comment/ask questions through this post.

Frequently Asked Questions

What alternative Operating Systems to CentOS 7 does Centreon support?

The current version (22.04) supports the following alternatives:

  • Alma Linux 8

  • Redhat Enterprise Linux 8

  • Oracle Linux 8

  • Debian 11

Current plans are to make the end of CentOS 7 support coincide with the start of Alma/RHEL/Oracle Linux 9 support.

What version will be the last to support CentOS 7?

Fall 2022 (around October 2022) will be the last to support CentOS 7.

Will the end of CentOS 7 support be across all Centreon components?

Yes, the policy will apply to all components (central server, poller, map server, reporting server etc).

How should I migrate to a different Operating System?

Please refer to the product documentation for the procedure to follow. You might choose to also upgrade to the most recent Centreon release at the same time if you are on a prior version.

How can I get assistance through the migration?

If you are a supported customer and have questions/issues with this migration, please contact your Centreon support.

For opensource users, you can leverage the user community to ask your questions.

This will also end support for equivalent distributions: Redhat 7 and Oracle Linux 7.
