Hello there !

I have a little problem when i want to use the icmp_check on my firewall.

For the details :

  • My Firewall allow ping from my LAN (it’s a sophos firewall)
  • When i’m connected on Centreon an i use the check in CLI it work
  • When it’s the centreon-engine who use the check the error message is : check_icmp: Failed to resolve : Nom ou service inconnu

Hi @ThomasL , can you share the command, does this check have a notification attached to it? mail?

The check command is the base_host_alive

 $USER1$/check_icmp -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -w 3000.0,80% -c 5000.0,100% -p 1

And the notification is link with the host

Can the user resolve the address? as root as centreon-engine?

I’m not really sure to understand what you asking for … But i have already use the command check in my Centreon CLI using the root user and the centreon user. Both are working normally.

I hope i answer correctly X)

It looks like we are on the same page.. 

In the case of the centreon-engine user. Can they resolve the host in question? I ask because of this:

>  check_icmp: Failed to resolve : Nom ou service inconnu

Hi, sorry for the delais of my response.

I just try the check-icmp with the centreon-engine user and it work …

bash-4.2$ /lib64/nagios/plugins/check_icmp -m 1 -H @IP -w 3000.0,80% -c 5000.0,100%
OK - @IP rta 0,191ms lost 0%|rta=0,191ms;3000,000;5000,000;0; pl=0%;80;100;0;100 rtmax=0,369ms;;;; rtmin=0,141ms;;;;

Sorry guys, i just found the problem … And I am ashamed, I just wrote an invalid IP address aka XXX.XXX.XXX.256
