Hey there! 😊Your favorite monitoring platform just got a spring upgrade. The new 23.04 version comes with a fancy Centreon AIOps Extension that uses artificial intelligence/machine learning to make the platform even better. This new AIOps Extension comes with two cool features: Anomaly Detection and Predictive Capacity. Anomaly Detection was previously only for beta users, but now it's available for everyone. It uses machine learning to predict the expected value of a metric and will give you a heads up when the monitored value goes beyond the acceptable deviation envelope. Predictive Capacity is still in early preview, but it uses machine learning to create a precise forecasting model for capacity planning. And that's not all, folks! The new version also has native SAML 2.0 support for web-based, cross-domain single sign-on and user synchronization. This feature is designed to beef up security and reduce the admin workload of handing out multiple authentication tokens.Last but not least, your valuable ideas have been heard! The Centreon team has implemented some of the ideas submitted on The Watch, such as packaged stream connectors, meta-service graphs in custom views, and a custom login page. Keep it up, folks! The Centreon product team is always open to new ideas and feedback 💪So, do you want to know more about all the exciting new features in this new version of Centreon?Check out the blog posts below in english and french! 😉 Read more about - EN Read more about - FR To simplify the installation process of Centreon on any operating system, we will merge the RPM and APT repositories into a single repository. Click here if you want to know more And if you need the Centreon documentation to update, click here
In order to make the installation of Centreon easier, regardless of the operating system used, we have decided to unify the RPM and APT repositories into a single repository. Thus, from May 2023, the yum.centreon.com and apt.centreon.com repositories become packages.centreon.com. First of all, don't worry: redirections have been put in place so that the supported Centreon platforms can continue to have updates, without it being necessary to change the configuration of the repositories. But beware, these redirects will only remain active for six months: this is the period you have to reconfigure your platforms so that they use packages.centreon.com. We show you how to do it below. Why this change?A single repository regardless of the Linux distribution. Differentiate between supported and outdated versions, a new repository will be created to archive unsupported versions. Group the Centreon Plugins and Monitoring Connectors, which are independent of the version of Centreon, in repositories dedicated to them. Facilitate our package deliveries (.rpm and .deb) Facilitate the support of future operating systems. Which platforms are affected? Centreon platforms whose software version is greater than or equal to 21.10 must be reconfigured within the next six months in order to continue to benefit from updates. Centreon platforms whose version is older than 21.10 are not concerned because they no longer receive updates. When updating a platform from a version prior to 21.10 to a later version, it is necessary to modify the configuration of the repositories. This concerns both open-source software editions and commercial editions. How to update the repositories on my Centreon platforms? The update procedure differs depending on the operating system of the platform. Update your RPM repositories (RHEL / Oracle Linux / Alma Linux 7 & 8) Open-source software edition: update of Standard & Centreon Plugins repositories rm /etc/yum.repos.d/centreon.repodnf config-manager --add-repo https://packages.centreon.com/rpm-standard/22.10/el8/centreon-22.10.repodnf clean all --enablerepo=*Replace 22.10 with your major version of Centreon (twice in the link).Replace el8 with your version of the operating system (el8 for version 8, otherwise el7). If you want to update Centreon packages:dnf update centreon\* Commercial software editions Contact our support team for updates to Monitoring Connectors repositories (formerly Plugin Packs) and commercial extensions. Update your APT repositories (Debian 11) Open-source software edition: update of Standard & Centreon Plugins repositories echo "deb https://packages.centreon.com/apt-standard-22.10-stable/ $(lsb_release -sc) main" | tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/centreon.listecho "deb https://packages.centreon.com/apt-plugins-stable/ $(lsb_release -sc) main" | tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/centreon-plugins.listapt updateReplace 22.10 with your major version of Centreon. Every month, Centreon extends its monitoring connector catalog and implements new ones, allowing you to connect your IT monitoring with more ITOps tools. Here is the latest news on your best allies: our monitoring connectors! To learn more, you can also read the related documentation, contact our sales team or post a message here on The Watch. TAKE NOTE: New name for Plugin Packs -in the 23.04 new release coming in the next few days, we will now refer to them as Monitoring Connectors Ever wondered about the difference between Plugins and Plugin Packs or tended to confuse them? Well, you were not alone. Our customer support team as well as partners who resell and integrate Centreon have been suggesting that we change our terminology and so we did. The takeaway here is that a diversity of connectors are necessary to monitor all the different equipment types. And so, that’s how we’ll be referring to Plugin Packs from now on: monitoring connectors. Centreon comes with an online library of about 700 monitoring connectors that you can download and install to monitor 100% of your IT infrastructure, both in the cloud or on-premises. Each connector comes with a complete set of configuration templates (host and service) and auto-discovery rules, along with some guidance for a smooth execution. In Centreon 23.04, the user interface page that manages the monitoring connectors can still be found in the configuration menu, in the same place, but its name has been changed to Monitoring Connectors Manager, and the new terminology is also reflected in the online documentation. ANOTHER NOTE!In the Monitoring Connectors Manager page, you will notice that all connectors have been updated. However, you should note that if they are not mentioned in the following update notes, it means no major changes have been made. Only make sure you are using the latest version of your monitoring connectors. Welcoming 2 new monitoring connectors in the catalog There are two new monitoring connectors to discover this month. Aruba CPPM Monitoring Connector. The ClearPass Policy Manager™ access management system (HPE/Aruba’s BYOD network security solution) sets and controls network access covering Zero Trust based access security requirements from a single platform. It provides complete mobile devices and users views as well as full control over what they can access. In addition to the classic metrics (CPU, disks, interfaces, memory) you can now use this connector to monitor:Radius statistics Requests to authentication repositories statistics TACACS (Terminal Access Controller Access-Control System Plus) statistics OpenGear monitoring packageThe OpenGear network solution (Digi) lets you monitor network equipment. On top of tracking classic indicators (CPU, interfaces, load, memory), this pack can monitor more specifically serial port traffic. Enhancements A few great enhancements this month!VMware VM: Good news: `ip_vmanagement` and `ip_vmotion` are now supported in Host Discovery. Control-M Rest API: job name filtering was added to service discovery. Fortinet Fortigate: default alerting on the state of the interface to the Traffic-Global service model is now available for this connector. Bug fixes Calculation for the CPU indicator was corrected for Windows WSMan.
